An All Day Scarpbooking Event!

Hi everyone! I hope this post finds you all healthy and happy!

I am writing because I attended an all day scrapbooking event yesterday, which I hardly every get the chance to do anymore.   It was the Spring ALS Charity Crop in Souderton, PA:
I had a wonderful time scrapping with good friends and seeing some old friends there as well.  And what could be better than getting a whole day to scrap while supporting a good cause?

Today I would like to share two of the many layouts that I made:

1)  For my first page, I used this month's Creative Embellishments Challenge:

Their challenge is to use the photo below as your inspiration. Their twist is to incorporate
something that flies on your page.

I was inspired by the beautiful movement depicted on this work of art.  And I was drawn to the gorgeous turquoise color.

Here is the layout I created:

As you can see, I incorporated stamps with butterfly wings and angels on my page.  And I used Creative Embellishments beautiful "Out of this World" chipboard piece:

I painted it white, distressed it, then added black circles and silver gems!!

Here is a close-up:
If the photo looks familiar to you, it should!  It was the one we used for our Christmas card this past December - I just converted it to black and white.

I would like to thank Creative Embellishments so much for inspiring me to make this scrapbook page!

2)  The second layout that I made was created using a kit I purchased from "A Place to Create" entitled "It's the Little Memories," designed by Tina Ollett  - please see more of her GORGEOUS scrapbook pages on Facebook and her blog.

Here is the layout I created using her kit:

I used a photo of Anne that I took when we went to Atlantic City for a long weekend last summer.  I pretty much followed Tina's instructions and her design to the T.  Thank you so much, Tina!

I would like to link my second layout to the Art Journal Journey challenge this month.  There theme is
"Out and About!"

Thanks, Yvonne, for this month's awesome theme, and AJJ for your ever-ending support and inspiration!!

I will share some of the other layouts that I made yesterday at a later date . . .

Until then, I leave you with a wish that you are all well and enjoying March.  We just got some snow on Friday and are expecting a Nor'easter storm on Monday evening which will last into Tuesday.  For those of you how live in the zone of this storm, please stay safe!

And thank YOU so much for visiting my blog today.  Hugs to all of you.

Smile!

Good Morning everyone!

Today I would like to share a layout I made for the newest Challenge YOUrself challenge.  You may ask:  What is Challenge YOUrself?  If you don't already know, it's a challenge blog that asks you to make pages with YOU in the photos!!!

This month's challenge is all about using negative space:

I enjoy using negative space on my pages, but I know that for some scrappers, it's a real challenge.  I hope you all get to play along with us this month!

Here is my page:

With a close up:

This is a favorite photo of mine of the 3 of us.  My twin sister, Karen, took it at the Women's 5K Classic that we attend every year!!  Karen and I were celebrating a milestone birthday last year, too, which made it even more special.

Here are some different views:

One of my favorite aspects about making this layout was using the ballone punch and stamps.  I got the cute balloon punch and stamps at a Stampin Up crop that I attended last year with one of my dear friends!

I hope you get to check out the Challenge YOUrself blog and participate in our challenge this month!  We all would love that!

I am also entering my page into the Art Journal Journey challenge this month which is "Out and About:"

This monthly challenge is absolutely amazing.  Just check out some or all of the entries from all over the world, if you want to get some awesome artistic inspiration!!!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today.  Hugs!

Here is a close up:
The photo was taken on John's and my 25th anniversary in New York City.  This was just outside the Statue of Liberty.  What a view!!

Winter Peace

Good Morning everyone!  Welcome February!

Today I would like to share a layout that I recently made for the current Kraft + challenge and I am going to share some photos of snow, too!

Isn't the sketch beautiful?  I was asked to be a guest designer this month!!

I am very happy and honored to have made this layout for their challenge:

 Here is a different view:

And a close up:

I love winter and snow.  Especially snow!  It seems to blanket everything and bring peace to a chaotic world for a little while.  Don't get me wrong, I don't like shoveling it or driving in it when it's treacherous, but I just love the magic snow brings to the earth.  What do you think about snow?

I encourage all of you scrappers to check out the Kraft + challenge this month.  Thanks once again, Kraft +, for asking me to guest design this month!

I am ending my post with some snow photos of snow taken in our back yard and at the farm down the street from us last year.  Unfortunately, we haven't had much of it yet this year.  But I know, there is still plenty of time left in winter . . .

This week's Our Beautiful World prompt is "Beautiful!"

What could be more beautiful than snow?

And one of my favorites is the one taken of the full moon . . .

So peaceful!!!  Thank you, Our Beautiful World!

And thank you so much for visiting my blog today.  Hugs to all of you!

A Wonderful World!

Good Morning everyone and welcome to the weekend and 2017!  Time seems to by flying by even more quickly every year that I get older, too.  Do you agree?

Today I would like to share a layout that I made for the current challenge at Challenge YOUrself.  As most of you know, I took over running Challenge YOUrself when Lynn Lefebvre had to step down last year and it has been a lot of fun.  I hope you get a chance to check it out and participate in this month's challenge!  Lynn is a guest designer for us this month.

January's challenge is all about Louis Armstrong's song:  "A Wonderful World."

I chose to use a photo that I took of our family during a photo shoot for our Christmas card this year.  I will share some of the "out-takes" with you at the bottom of my post today.  Here is my layout:

With some close-ups:

The beautiful background paper was given to me as part of a kit/Christmas gift, by my sister, Patty.  Thanks, Patty!!!  If you're interested, it is made by Reminisce:

My dear friend, Valerie, encouraged me to join the Art Journal Journey challenge this month, too.

The challenge is "Tell Me Your Story . . ."  Thank you, Valerie and Art Journal Journey!!!
I encourage YOU to check out their monthly challenges!

Here are some of the photos that I took.  I used a tripod and timer, and took the photos in our backyard. Not everyone was in a good mood, so it was hard to get smiles.  And Kita did not want to cooperate at all! LOL!!!

. . . and here's the one we finally used for our Christmas card - Kita still wasn't looking at the camera, but at least you can see her face!

Thank you for stopping by my blog today!  I love your visits and comments!!  Hope you all have a wonderful 2017, filled with happiness and health.  HUGS!

Joy to the World!

Good Morning everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season so far!  I have been sick with a terrible cold that has lasted for 3 weeks, but finally am feeling better this weekend.  I am so happy and it made me realize that I take my health for granted sometimes.  I am thankful for the ability to heal!

Today I would like to share an art journal page that I made for this month's challenge at Art Journal Journey.

The theme is "Light and Darkness" and here is an excerpt from their blog:

"December is a dark and cold month in the northern hemisphere and since thousands of years people have been celebrating festivals which bring light into these days.We light candles for Advent, Yule and Chanukka, put lights on the trees, light up our houses and towns with decorations, and look forward to the winter solstice – a festival celebrated by many people in ancient times and today
– because it means that the days start to get longer again. We want you to show light on your journal pages, to show how light dispels the darkness etc."

I just LOVE this theme - thank you, Valerie!!!

After thinking about the light and darkness theme, I felt I had to make my page about Christmas:

Here are some different views:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Art Journal Journey for all of the inspiration they have given me this past year!  All of the participants are so creative and talented!  Thank you!

And I want to thank all of YOU for stopping by my blog and leaving such wonderful comments.  Here's wishing you a very happy holiday season and a blessed new year.  Hugs to one and all!
