A Grateful Heart . . . Scraps of Darkness Aug Kit, 2017

Hi everyone!

I am sharing my 5th layout made with the amazing Scraps of Darkness "Sparkle and Shine" kit.  I just couldn't resist making one more layout because I absolutely LOVE this kit.  And I have so much left over, even after making 4 layouts!

Here's my 5th page:

This layout means a lot to me because I started with a vintage photo of my mom and dad that was taken long before they had us kids!  I used the beautiful Prima, Rose Quartz, double-sided paper entitled "Midnight Beauty."  I liked the side that looked almost like worn wallpaper to me.  I added some more interest by splattering the gold acrylic paint, hickory smoke spray stain, and the worn lipstick distress oxide ink - all are in the color add-on kit!  I added my title by cutting out the saying from the "Grateful Heart with Foil Accents" paper.

Thankful for you . . .

Good Morning everyone!

Today I would like to share a layout that I made for the newest Challenge YOUrself challenge.  This month is all about autumn:

I chose to use photos that were taken during our autumn - trip to Paris in 2011.  Two of my favorite photos were these:

And here is my take:

I used the Simple Stories "Vintage Blessings" collection to make my page!

**In addition, I am linking my page to Art Journal Journey this month.**

Froebelsternchen Susi asked me to link it to their "Landscapes of the Soul" theme this month.  Thank you so much, Susi!  I encourage all of you to check out the AJJ blog because it is filled with so many wonderful works of art by talented artistists!

And I hope all of you scrappers out there get a chance to participate in this month's challenge at Challenge YOUrself!  The fall mood board was so much fun to work with.

Happy Crafting!

And thank you all so much for stopping by my blog today.  HUGS!

We Run for Life, Scraps of Darkness August Kit, 2017

Hi Everyone!

It's Sharon here to share another layout that I made with the August Scraps of Darkness "Sparkle and Shine" kit! It's simply fabulous - I had so much fun creating this page using the main kit and add-ons.

I decided to scrap some photos that were taken at the Women's 5K Classic last year
since there is a lot of the color pink in this kit.

Here's my page:

I used a grid design in order to get 4 photos from the event on my page.  I featured the paper "Wonderful" and "Be Amazing" from Simple Stories' Beautiful collection included in the main kit.

Here are some close ups:

Please take a minute to check out the Scraps of Darkness store to see this month's kit:

And the coordinating add-ons, too.  Hurry, because the kits and add ons go quickly every month!  Don't forget about the monthly kit club subscription.  If you join, you won't miss out on anything :)

Have a great week - I hope it's filled with lots of scrapping.  Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by my blog today!

Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful, Scraps of Darkness August Kit, 2017

Hi everyone!

I'm here today to share my third project made with the  August, 2017 Scraps of Darkness

WOW!  This kit is full of amazing paper and embellishments that make your layouts really shine!

I enjoyed making this page using a photo that I just took while on vacation this summer:

I was looking for a moody effect, so I converted it to black and white:

I took the photo while walking on the Atlantic City boardwalk one evening.  The Bruce Springsteen song "Born to Run" came to mind when I printed it out the b&w version.

Here's my page:

This time I used the "Grateful Heart" paper from Prima's Rose Quartz Collection as my background.

I was drawn to this pink and white color scheme.

Here are some close-ups:

This page was so quick and easy to make using the Scraps of Darkness main kit:

and add-ons!!

Happy Scrapping everyone!

Love: Scraps of Darkness August kit, 2017

Hi everyone!I am here to share my newest layout made with the August, 2017, Scraps of Darkness, "Sparkle and Shine" kit.  This kit features Prima's "Rose Quartz" and Simple Stories "Beautiful" collections.

What a fabulous kit!  When I first received it, I thought, wow . . . there are so many possibilities!  I am happy that I ordered all of the add-ons,  because I do not want to run out of coordinating supplies.

Without further ado, here's my layout:

I just LOVE the Simple Stories "Shine Bright" paper, and used it as my background.  Since a black and white photo seemed best here, I used one of my favorites that I took of my husband and daughter last year.

I added some interest to the background with "True Gold" paint, "Hickory Smoke" spray stain, and some white gesso splatters - both the paint and the spray stain are included in the color add-on.  The black feather, which I pulled apart and adhered to the back of my distressed and matted photo, and the music paper came in the elements add-on.  In addition, I had some fern chipboard pieces left over from last month's kit.  I painted them gold (with the True Gold paint) and viola, they were the perfect addition to this page.  And the gray Prima flowers were included in the main kit.

I have found that the monthly kits and add-ons go quickly!  If you don't want to miss out on anything, you can subscribe to the monthly scrapbook kit club.  You can get all of the information you need by clicking on the above links, or just visiting the online store.

Hello Summer!

Good Morning everyone and welcome Thursday!  I can't believe that it is September 7th already.

Today I am sharing a layout I made for Challenge YOUrself.

This month is a sketch challenge and they want you to use this PageMaps sketch:

Here is my take:

With some close-ups:

I enjoyed using a photo from my family's summer vacation in Atlantic City!  We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Sands Hotel although we don't gamble!  The beach access is so close and the boardwalk was amazing and fun.  It totally brought back memories of my childhood!

I also used a paper collection from Close to My Heart entitled "Summer Calypso":
And the PageMaps sketch was so fun to follow!

I encourage you to check out this month's awesome sketch challenge at Challenge YOUrself!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today!

In My Daughters' Eyes: August Scraps of Darkness kit, 2017

Hi fellow scrappers!

I'm here today sharing the first layout made with the August, 2017, Scraps of Darkness "Sparkle and Shine" kit!

Here's a picture of the main kit:

This kit features Prima's "Rose Quartz" papers as well as Simple Stories' "Beautiful" papers.

I thought they were absolutely perfect papers to feature a favorite photo that I took of my daughters on Mother's Day this year:

If you are reading this blog, I know you must love scrapping as much as I do!!!  Here's my layout:

I used the main kit's papers from the Simple Stories collection and the cardstock add on's "Sweetie Pie" as the basis of my page and went from there.  Make sure you check out all of the add-on kits because they go with the main kit beautifully and you will have lots of coordinating supplies, too.

I enjoyed using some die cuts in my own stash such as Tim Holtz's mini rosettes, elegant flourishes, and Sizzix's sun and clouds.

And I wanted to express just how much my daughters mean to me by highlighting the Martina McBride lyrics "In my Daughter's Eyes:"

Here are some more close-ups:

I hope you have as much fun as I did scrapping with this kit and the coordinating add-ons.

Because the kits go quickly each month, please check out the Scraps of Darkness Store soon!

Happy Scrapping!
